Winter Forest in a Box
"In the lane, snow is glistening..."
Are you looking for new winter decorations for your home? Yes? Then get cracking right now! "Sleigh bells ring, are you listening? In the lane, snow is glistening." Every year, children sing this song when the first snow falls. Claudia from Ideas & Inspirations has given it a lot of thought! The result is a great idea for a DIY winter forest in a box.
Step-by-step instruction
Instructions from Claudia from Ideas & Inspirations
You need that
- Cardboard box/cardboard
- Acrylic Paint (White, Black and Lemon Yellow)
- Flat brush (size 6)
- Hay Feeder
- Temporary Glue
- Illuminated Christmas Tree
- Decorative Snowy Fir Trees
- Darning needle
- White gel pen
- Snow Glue
- Snowflakes
- Mini figures
The first thing you do is design the background of your box. To do this, paint the interior with Acrylic Paint. The mountains are painted black. You colour the sky twice with a mixture of black and white. Then lighten up the grey mixture with white and paint on some clouds. A little yellow mixed with white gives the colour of the moon. Allow the paint to dry. In the meantime, assemble the Hay Feeder using Temporary Glue according to the instructions. You need to let this dry as well.
Now put the Illuminated Christmas Tree in the box and choose a final position for it. With a darning needle, make two small holes for the wire at the bottom of the back wall. That’s where you insert the wires. Now outline the roots of the Snowy Fir Trees with a white gel pen. Use the brush to apply Snow Glue to the ground, leaving the circled areas uncovered. Flock the adhesive surfaces with artificial snow. After that, secure the Snowy Fir Trees on the snow-free areas with Temporary Glue. Now affix the Hay Feeder, Roe Deer and Deer to their final position with the glue. Spread out the forest animals so that there are no large gaps. Pop Father Christmas in your winter world without glue. After Christmas, you can simply remove him and leave your winter world up until the end of winter. Now you just need to connect the Illuminated Christmas Tree. This engenders a particularly festive vibe in the miniature winter forest. If you want to keep your box for the rest of the year, simply put the lid on. :)
