1. Sandy beach and (mini) palm tree
The holidays are always too far away, too long ago, or much too short! So, let’s decorate our flat with a bit of a summery, Mediterranean vibe and bring that holiday feeling home! First of all, we need a nice jar. I opted for one with a cork lid here, but there are also ones with a snap lock. You can get the bottles with cork stoppers from a hardware store or from the Swedish furniture store round the corner ;)
Remove the lid from the jar and fill it with a little fine, brown ballast. The ballast looks like real sand because it’s so fine. If you brought a bit of sand home with you from your last beach holiday, even better! Use it; it gives the decoration an even more personal touch. Carefully bend the palm leaves downwards and insert the Palm Tree in the jar. Depending on the size of your jar, you can take a Palm Tree with a height of 15 cm or 19 cm. If both are too tall, you can also simply cut the trunk to the appropriate length with diagonal pliers.

2. “Bathers” mini figures and dunes
I’m particularly keen on the mini figures. The “Bathers” in particular go really well with the summery beach decoration. The figures are approx. 2 cm high and fit perfectly in the little cork bottles. First, I filled the mini bottle with a little brown Ballast and then manoeuvred the figure into it with tweezers. Then come a few beige or light green Grass Tufts, which look like dry dune grass. The whole thing feels a bit like building ships in bottles and is loads of fun!

3. The ‘blue lagoon’ with heavenly turquoise water
Who doesn’t dream about holidaying at the beach with heavenly water? Turquoise, a few waves and sun on your skin! We make the decoration very easy for ourselves: a paintbrush is dipped in blue paint and carefully held in a jar previously filled with water. Take care: you really only need a tiny amount of paint. If there is too much paint in the water, it becomes opaque, and you won’t be able to see the seashells anymore. You can test it first until your water is the right colour. When you’re satisfied, throw a few seashells, pebbles and beach flotsam you collected on your last holiday into your little ocean!
Your crafted results
The decoration definitely reduces the wait for your next holiday! As a Mediterranean addition, things are sure to look great in the bathroom, too, regardless of the season. After all, a little bit of summer is always possible ;)
Best wishes and have fun doing it yourself!
